Helen studied drama at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and started her professional career singing in a harmony doo-wop band ‘Rocky Sharpe and The Replays’, performing on TV and in stadiums throughout the UK and Europe.
She has worked extensively in theatre, TV and film, playing Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Shaw Theatre, London and took over the female lead in Mr Cinders at the Fortune Theatre in the West End. Television work includes six series of LWT’s London’s Burning playing Marion and BBC’s Only Fools and Horses.
While teaching as a specialist drama teacher at Hampton Court House School in S.W London, Helen devised and workshopped a play Flyaway with the children, who acted alongside professional adult actors in the production. She then workshopped her film script with HCH and six other schools (again working alongside TV actors) resulting in her feature film, INNOCENT, which was nominated for best feature at the Marbella International Film Festival.
As a scriptwriter Helen wrote for EastEnders for nine years, as well as ITV’s Heartbeat, and was recently in development with Tony Jordan and Red Planet with her own original drama series.
Helen has a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education from Brighton University, specialising in Drama and the Performing Arts.
