This is a fun, very free and radical adaptation of Twelfth Night which has more than a whiff of a production in freefall, as we get to know not just the characters in the story but some of the actors playing them too. There is much knockabout humour and physical comedy, but also witty dialogue which combines Shakespeare’s language with modern day speak.

Although not a political piece, it does employ Brechtian devices such as narration and montage. It requires the actors to keep Shakespeare’s story running alongside the ironic light comic banter the piece employs. There is, however, much enjoyment to be had with this fusion of classic and modern text which helps bring the story to life and makes it hugely accessible for audiences of all ages
